The diptych explores space as a sentient entity. Familiarity or the lack of it encourages othering & alienation. The space on this side or top of the graph versus what lies behind the mesh of the grid and accordingly the act of mark making was like embracing some while distancing others.

I started making This side-That side at the end of the 2021 while Covid lockdowns were still on. The pandemic amplified the horrors of the 21st century. Humankind is pitted against each other since time immemorial & the enemy figure/s in our minds is a conditioning. The work culminated in 2023.
