Excerpts from the book:
SEE TOGETHER
SEE & READ TOGETHER
SEE & READ SITTING TOGETHER
BUT HOW TO READ?
IS IT A BALANCING ACT – AN ACT THAT REQUIRES TO BE ON ALL FOUR?
WILL IT CREATE A LEFT-RIGHT DIVIDE?… FUNCTIONALITY PREVAILS. HOWEVER, QUERY CONTINUES HOW TO READ?
ENCOUNTERING IN DIFFERENT WAYS. STILL THE GAP EXISTS…PERSISTS…
This book is an inquiry into how to read a form, an image, a situation, a text, a particular time, and for that matter anything. It explores two aspects simultaneously. First is – how to read literally. How our physicality is engaged in it? The second is – the way we conceptually engage, interpret and decipher meanings. Hand drawn and written, it draws heavily from my everyday encounters in spaces like libraries, art exhibitions, classroom situations and public transport; candid conversations with friends and text from short stories and newspaper articles. The drawings were done on separate sheets keeping in mind the process of book-making. After that they were put together by the book-binder at a nearby stationery.
